A career with the Leavenworth Police Department offers a wide variety of opportunities for our police officers. After meeting certain requirements, officers are eligible for specialized assignments and promotions. Specialized assignments include:

Additionally, our city provides a comprehensive benefit package for employees that  includes:
  • Paid Sick Leave- 12 days per year with no maximum accumulation.
  • Paid Annual leave- 12 days in first year, 22.5 days maximum depending upon years of service. Maximum annual carryover is 30 days.
  • Tuition Reimbursement- Up to $2,000 per year for job related education expenses.
  • Ten paid holidays per year.

Police Cadet Program
 
The Leavenworth Police Department proudly announces the launch of our new Police Cadet Program. The Department is seeking young men and women 18-20 years of age who are interested in a law enforcement career. Selected applicants will receive $2,000 per year in tuition assistance related to the law enforcement profession. Selection will be based on a competitive process including, but not limited to, a background evaluation and an interview.
 
Police Cadets must be at least 18 years of age, must be able to work an average of 5 hours per week at the police department, must pass a rigorous background investigation, maintain suitable grades, and enter an employment contract if hired by the Police Department.
