City CommissionAs the City's governing body, the City Commission is responsible for establishing policies and allocating resources through the adoption of the annual operating budget, five-year capital improvement program, ordinances and resolutions. As part of the policy-making process, the City Commission relies upon input from boards and commissions.
The City Commission is responsible for making appointments to boards and commissions and also appoints the City Manager. In addition to weekly study sessions and regular business meeting, Commissioners interact with State and Federal elected officials, and other elected officials within the county and region. Commissioners also attend to constituent services in the form of processing citizen service requests to the City staff or, when appropriate, bringing citizen issues that may have policy implications to the entire governing body.
