Community Development

The Community Development Department is a multifunctional agency responsible for the orderly development and redevelopment of private property in Leavenworth. This department consists of three divisions:

Planning and Zoning conducts city planning, annexation, subdivision development, zoning and Code Enforcement.
Community Development operates the City's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), First Time Home Buyer Program, Home Repair Program, Blight Removal, Emergency Housing Assistance, Northeast Area Revitalization (NEAR) plan and Historic Preservation.
Public Housing, includes operation of Planters II, a 105 unit elderly apartment building at 200 Shawnee Street, and the Section 8 housing program.
