IMPORTANT NOTICE  The Leavenworth Water Department will be installing a new water main between 9th and 11th Streets, July 30- August 3. Alleyways between 8th and 9th will be affected through Monday and 9th Street at Cheyenne will be blocked on Tuesday, August 3. For more information, please contact the Water Department at 913-682-1513.   City celebrates its newest and largest park shelter Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to join the City on Saturday, July 31 to celebrate the new shelter at Wollman Park. The shelter was just recently competed, and is the largest park shelter in the City of Leavenworth. The dedication event will feature live music and lunch. The festivities start at 11 a.m., with live entertainment, and a short ceremony at noon. Lunch will be provided after the ceremony. The live music is provided by The Tune Shop, and includes: Ace of Spades, The No Names, Tempted Legally and No Yellow Sugar. Everyone is welcome to help the City celebrate this great addition to Wollman Park (14th & Shawnee).   City Names Employee of the Second Quarter The City of Leavenworth is pleased to recognize Chris Nicholson as the City's Employee of the Second Quarter.  Nicholson started with the City on March 17, 2005, as a Police Officer.  He was promoted to Detective on March 19, 2009, the position he now holds. Detective Nicholson has shown repeatedly that he cares about the community and takes great care in conducting good, solid investigations. He treats victims the way he would like to be treated and works hard on their behalf.  In addition, he has arrested countless criminals and in doing so has prevented countless further felonious acts against the citizens of Leavenworth.
