Spring Cleanup set for Saturday, April 6

City of Leavenworth Public Information Office – April 1, 2019

 

Roughly 950 volunteers from 38 groups will pick up trash throughout the City of Leavenworth Saturday, April 6 during the Citywide Spring Cleanup.

The event begins with a kick-off ceremony 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Warren Middle School, 3501 New Lawrence Road. The City will provide doughnuts, coffee and juice. Volunteers picking up trash will get a t-shirt and free one-day pool pass to Wollman Aquatic Center. New groups this year include staff from TownPlace Suites and Team Nettie from the Third Avenue School.

  • Other services that will be available Saturday, April 6 include:
     Free document shredding sponsored by Citizens Savings and Loan:
    • 10 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. at 5151 S. Fourth St.
    • 1-2 p.m. at 312 S. Fifth St.
  • Recycling Center open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Lawrence and Halderman streets in Leavenworth. This includes oil drop-off and e-waste recycling such as old computers, e-readers, tablets, televisions, etc.
  • Bulk item drop off 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. behind the Municipal Service Center at the corner of Pennsylvania and Lawrence Avenues. Items that may be dropped off include furniture, metals and mattresses. There is a limit of up to 10 tires per visit.
  • Household Hazardous Waste will take place at Pennsylvania and Lawrence Avenues from 8 a.m. to noon. This is for disposal of cleaners, fertilizers, automotive chemicals, paints, antifreeze, pesticides, pool chemicals and other chemicals that should not be disposed of in the trash or sewers.
