Sanitary Sewer Overflow Reported on February 23, 2023 at 1212 10th Avenue

At 7:32 a.m. on February 23, 2023, Water Pollution Control (WPC) staff were informed of sewage running from a manhole on 10th Avenue.  WPC responded to the call and determined that sewage was, in fact, leaking from a manhole at the address 1212 10th Avenue.  This caused the sanitary sewage to run into a catch basin along the west side of 10th Avenue.  City staff cleared the blockage in the City main.  City staff cleared grease from the line that was causing bypass.  Bypass of system ended at 8:37 a.m.  City staff cleaned area of bypass to the storm catch basin.  WPC estimated 500 gallons of wastewater was released from the system.  The affected areas are from the east side of 10th Avenue from Quincy Street north.  A creek contaminated sign has been posted.  E. coli levels have been tested and have come back at acceptable levels.
