Open Burning Regulations

The Leavenworth Fire Department has updated our open burning regulations.

Burn permits are issued during the Spring and Fall.

• The Spring burn period will run from April 1 to May 15. 
• The Fall burn period will run from October 1 to November 15. 

To request a permit to burn in the City of Leavenworth, call 913-758-2980.

Requests are received (with the exception of holidays):

Monday -Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.
Saturday - Sunday from 7 a.m. to noon.

Permits shall be issued for the burning of brush and tree debris only. No leaves. Burn Barrels are no longer permitted. A Burn Barrel is defined as any barrel, drum, trash container, or other container not specifically designed to contain a fire and/or support burning.
