Don't Dump These Down the Drain: Fats, Oils and Grease

City sewer blockage - white spots along a pipe are a buildup as a result of fat or grease poured down the drain.

Fats, oils and grease are a few things that should never be dumped down the drain.

These items can cause blockages in sewers  -- even if it's washed away with hot water and soap. The photos below were taken of City of Leavenworth sewers after our Wastewater Treatment Plant employees were called on site to remove a sewer blockage.

We recommend allowing grease or fat to cool, putting it in a disposable container, and throwing out with your trash on your regular trash pickup day.
